Simone Weil on the Nature of Truth and God
“For it seemed to me certain, and I still think so today, that one can never wrestle enough with God if one does so out of a pure regard for the truth. Christ likes us to prefer truth to him because, before being Christ he is truth.
If one turns aside from him to go toward truth, one will not go far before falling into his arms.”
- Simone Weil in “Waiting for God”
I don’t think I have ever read another’s work or thoughts so close to my own.
And then the question is, but who is God, who is Christ? I am musing that after truth, at the very least, God is the vector, the arrow, the direction towards greater wellbeing, greater connectedness, greater wholeness, greater equanimity in the One Tribe. At the very least. And maybe that is enough.
